Overview

The B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education program at UGA focuses on developing culturally relevant curricula and educational practices, designing innovative learning environments, and building effective school-family-community partnerships. The major is classified as high demand, attracting far more applicants each year than can be admitted.

The major stresses intellectual work, collaborative inquiry, and active involvement and advocacy in teaching. Graduates of this program will be prepared for teacher certification in grades PreK-5 through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. You will take a range of coursework, including; educational theory, elementary curricula, and methods courses in language, literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. This cohort-based program integrates hands-on experience to build a solid foundation in theory and teaching principles.
