Franklin College of Arts and Sciences

B.F.A.

Overview

The Printmaking major at the University of Georgia provides an intensive investigation into the professional studio environment of printmaking.

Students develop technical competence in diverse skills associated with major fine-art printmaking processes including intaglio (engraving or etching cavities to contain printing ink), relief, screen printing, digital printing, letterpress, book arts, papermaking, and lithography.  Self-discipline, drawing ability, sense of design, and ability to accept direction and aesthetic criticism are essential keys for success.  Students participate in an internship and senior exhibition with portfolio.

Employment is available in the fields of print, paper, book collections, and private or non-profit print workshops.  Graduates also pursue careers at galleries, museums, print shops, culture and art centers, restoration facilities, or pursue further schooling.
