Overview

The B.S.Ed. in Communication Science and Disorders program at UGA focuses on teaching human communication through speech, language, hearing, and their related disorders. The major is classified as high demand, attracting far more applicants each year than can be admitted.

This program is best suited for those who want to pursue further studies to become certified or licensed as a speech-language pathologist, audiologist, or another professional practitioner. Students desiring to practice in the areas of speech-language pathology, audiology, or education of the hearing impaired must obtain full professional credentials and certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association through an accredited master’s or doctorate degree.

A master's degree is the entry-level degree for the practice of Speech-Language Pathology and a doctoral degree is the entry-level degree of the practice of Audiology in hospitals, rehabilitation settings, public schools, etc.

Admittance to this high-demand major is limited.
