Spotlight
My road to graduating from UGA's Terry College of Business was full of twists and turns. I owe a great deal to UGA and the Griffin campus faculty and staff that helped me achieve my lifelong dream of a college degree. I currently work for a member of the United States House of Representatives, assisting constituents in navigating their businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic by helping them with issues involving the SBA, USDA, U.S. Treasury, and the IRS. My journey to get here began right after high school in Iowa. Unfortunately, family circumstances required that I withdraw from my college courses in order to work full-time. Nearly ten years later, I moved to the South and met my wife, Jessica, a UGA alumna. With my dream of earning a degree still in my mind, I decided to go back to school with a focused goal of graduating with a BBA degree from UGA. As a 2020 graduate, I can finally say that I have a BBA degree in General Business from the Terry College, one of the best business schools in the nation. Moreover, I can proudly report that I graduated summa cum laude.
I cannot speak highly enough about my time at UGA and all that it has to offer its students. The Bulldog community is fantastic, and you can depend on it to provide enriching opportunities to enhance your college experiences and further your career. One of the opportunities that I took advantage of while attending the UGA Griffin Campus was the Student Ambassadors organization, which I became president of my senior year. With the help of an incredible UGA scholarship, I was able to study abroad with the UGA at Oxford Terry program. My business coursework and enhanced educational experience prepared me to apply what I learned in the classroom to a small business venture that my wife and I began in 2014. This emphasis on real-world application, along with the confidence instilled in me by my professors, has allowed me to excel at my current job with the US House of Representatives.
I am proud to call The University of Georgia and the Terry College of Business my alma mater. Thanks to the education, experiences, and friendships made, I know that my future is bright. Go Dawgs!
