Overview

The agricultural communications major at the University of Georgia is designed to provide technical and applied instruction in communication strategy, media development, and audience understanding within the context of agricultural and environmental sciences.

The curriculum emphasizes consumer and scientific understanding, media literacy, cross-cultural engagement, technology engagement and adaptation, message development, food systems awareness, and farmer/producer and consumer interactions. Key areas of skill development include writing, graphic design, photography, videography, cultural competency, critical thinking, and technology and communication trends.

Graduates of this program are prepared to go into a multitude of agricultural- and mainstream media-related positions, such as public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism, and sales.
