Overview

Management involves the perspective, skills, and knowledge necessary to lead modern organizations more effectively while simultaneously addressing a wide variety of organizational problems:  financial, material, human, legal, political, and environmental. 

The Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Management from UGA emphasizes working with and through groups toward common mission, goals, and objectives; written and oral communication skills; and creative problem-solving in an increasingly complex and global business environment.  Courses in operations management, organizational behavior, ethics, human resources, leadership, and strategic management build core competencies required by managers for the twenty-first century.  (Refer to the Pre-Business major for information on applying.)

Student can pursue an area of emphasis in Management with Operations and Supply Chain or Human Resources Analytics Management.

Operations and supply chain students learn the craft and science of management in several different areas. The following describes a Management Major with an emphasis in operations/supply chain management.

• Operations Management

• International Strategic Management

• Organizational Behavior

The area of emphasis allows students to gain more in-depth knowledge on how to strategically and effectively manage supply chain activities for a competitive advantage.

• Supply Chain Management – Required

Elective courses in emphasis – (choose three courses from below)

• Project Management

• Supply Chain Analytics

• Service Operations

• Quality Management

• Operations or Supply Chain Internship that has been approved by the department

Human Resources and Analytics students learn how to measure the concepts at play in human resources and how to interpret data to make crucial decisions. Human resources studies include topics such as recruitment and selection, training, development. Performance management and compensation. Students will also be learning why analytics plays an important role in human resources. The following describes a Management Major with an emphasis in human resource analytics management.
