Middle Grades Education

Mary Frances Early College of Education

B.S.Ed.

Overview

The B.S.Ed. in Middle Grades Education program at UGA prepares students to teach middle grades education in two content areas: Language Arts, Social Studies; Mathematics; Science.

Graduates of this program will be prepared for teacher certification in grades 4-8 through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. This cohort-based program integrates hands-on experience to build subject-area knowledge and pedagogical skills and methods. School-based field experience is the heart of the program; students are placed in a middle-grades classroom with an experienced mentor teacher beginning in their first semester, building toward full-time student teaching in their last.
