Overview

Public Relations is the communication of value, services, product, or mission of an organization to the public as well as eliciting feedback from the public.  It exists in several broad areas including special events planning, media relations, public speaking, fundraising, programming, research, and writing/editing.

The PR major at the University of Georgia is designed to train students as analysts, creative thinkers, writers, planners, and policy makers in public relations and related fields for the 21st century.  Students take courses in communications, campaigning, graphics, news writing & reporting, marketing, and others, with over 70% of faculty bringing professional experience to their teaching and research.

Internships are considered essential to a student’s total educational experience and greatly enhance job potential upon graduation in entry-level marketing, communications, corporate relations, public opinion research, nonprofit and education fundraising, political campaigning, lobbying, and other mediated persuasion careers.
